Phyllis (1999)

This was my final project for my 2-d design class in my freshman semester at ASU. I keep both because the subject — my grandmother and her evolution and parallels with her children (seen top right) and she herself at their age (the saddle shoes in the lower left) and the two great relationships in her life — my maternal grandfather and their relationship of her youth…and the second marriage she had with Step-Grandfather that started in her 30’s till her death.

I keep it and show to show where I started as an artist…and how my style has evolved…it is funny to see the sparks of creativity and scratching at my own personal style paired with my sophomoric design aesthetic.
