A BEER-iodic “idea potluck” for Chicago Creatives
EVERY SECOND WEDNESDAY of the month at Empirical Brewery in Ravenswood.
As a member of Chicago Chapter of AIGA and the Vice President for the Community Engagement Committee, I have concepted, branded, organized and hosted the in-person “idea potluck,” ASK + GIVE for local designers since November 2021. With the vision that the wisdom to navigate any design career issue is within the community, we meet monthly to simply ASK (for advice or inspiration) or GIVE (resources or anecdotes)

Because we know that the design community has ALL the wisdom needed to solve the current problems/issues our fellow designers have or will face in the future.
So what is ASK + GIVE?
It’s an open-mic platform “idea potluck” where you can ASK your fellow designers to GIVE you feedback, advice, or even recommendations.
What’s an “Idea Potluck”?
Our goal is to make space for communal gatherings where each member can contribute their unique wisdom, experiences, and resources, creating a mutually nourishing and fun experience — similar to a potluck dinner — albeit for this, the focus is on sharing stories, suggestions, access….and ideas.
What if I don’t have an ASK?
NO WORRIES! You don’t HAVE to ASK or GIVE.
You can simply come for the Community.
OR come for the great beer at Empirical Brewery.
Come for the Beer Garden Cats, they are really friendly and LOVE pets…they also have a dog-friendly patio and tap room.
You can come for the NERDY decor in the tap room.
You can come for Catto’s Kitchen Delectable Confections — our own CE Committee Chair, Irina makes homemade treats each month just for our events!
Or you can come to get an amazingly designed program by a gal named Nacho.
Or come for the FREE advice from our guest speaker or our designer showcase.
Or you can simply GIVE your time, your thoughts, a resource, a design journey anecdote, or even just your personal definition of design! It is all meant to be just fun!
