Category: Community Art

AKA “social art” or “community-based art” is the practice of art that is based in and generated for a community.  But I argue  because graphic design is a didactic, problem solving tool in itself, and if done and used correctly, CAN BE Community Art at its core.   That is because it doesn’t just TELL the viewer something, but motivates viewers to DO something.  My aim as a graphic designer is to empower others by sharing the platform, power, and tool of design to enlighten, educate, and motivate. With that inspiration, my goal is to elicit positive change and ensure agency, in all its forms.  All deserve the power design (and/or community art) can provide.
